The Seagulls Summer Bash campaign didn't quite get off to the start that had been hoped for in the clash with Newcastle City Sabres at Learmonth Oval.
The Seagulls were without a number of key players but were fortunate to have replacements from the ladder topping second grade team.
Batting first the Seagulls were only able to muster a modest 110 with experienced campaigner Sam Jenkinson top scoring with 47 from 36 balls.
In response the Sabres reached the required total for the loss of 5 wickets with James Beatty taking 3 for 18 in four economical overs.
