Peter Parr returns home to join Newcastle Knights

Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club legend Peter Parr will return to Newcastle after spending 19 years based in Townsville with the North Queensland Cowboys Rugby League Club.

The return to Newcastle is not only a professional move but is has deeply personal dimensions, seeing him return to the city he grew up in and where much of his family is still based.


Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club has long held a place close to Parr's heart as he was a feature in the clubs grades throughout the 1980's. Parr made his first grade debut for the club in 1986-87 and was an integral part of the clubs first ever Club Championship success in 1988-89.


Parr will take up the role of Director of Football at the Newcastle Knights in August 2022 continuing a career in rugby league spans ​over 25 years, the last 20 of which have been primarily focused on the North Queensland Cowboys in such diverse roles as Director, CEO, General Manager of Football and Football Manager. ​All up Parr has been involved in four Grand Finals, one with the Brisbane Broncos in 2000, and three with the Cowboys in 2005, 2015 and 2017.

For the past four years he has also held the role of Representative Pathways Manager for the New South Wales Rugby League in addition to continuing to serve as a Non-Executive Director of the Cowboys and Chair of the club’s Football Committee.
